I know you are wondering when we head north. So do we! The weather is just not letting up. In general, the ocean conditions calm for a brief time between the Spring and Summer weather patterns. We don’t see our expected window. We get tiny teasers, but they evaporate within hours. Captain says the weather we see is much like the summer pattern and he despairs of us getting a weather window. It will come, no worries. Our window for last fall was later than what seemed normal to us, too. It will come – really – it will.
Waiting in Richmond, the weather is down right miserable! Though it is sunny here, it is not a fun day.
The National Weather service reports our current conditions as SW winds 27 gusting to 35. It is blowing onto our aft deck. And not only the nasty wind, but salty sea filled winds. And, it is cold – don’t forget the windchill factor!

Check the Angel Island column. We are staring at the island through our port windows – less than three miles away.
Go a few miles inland and it is a beautiful 80 degrees – perfect summer weather – for me.

This will be our third trip north. In 2005 we departed on April 30 and finished the trip – arriving in Neah Bay on May 6. In 2008 we departed April 12, arriving in Port Angeles on May 10. The second voyage was done in three legs – based on weather windows. As you can see it took us a month to get up the coast in 2008. What lays ahead for this voyage? We all wonder – as we watch the weather.

Brrr! Felt your cold ocean breezes all the way down in Paradise Village! The ocean breezes are what are making it possible for us to take our long walks every day since it is getting hotter and more humid every day! Oh well, an 80 degree day by the ocean beats 105 in the desert any time! Miss you!

well things are not any better in the bering sea a guy that works as a deck hand for me in the summer is still up there trying to get there opy quota just be patient it will lay down and north you will go keep us posted on whats happening any way we are going to leave for sitka around the 10 to the 12th of june

Hi’ to the Good Little Ship “Desert Venture” Sound to me like things couldent get better unless the days get longer. Nice warm Bunks and a View out the Port windows at a Great anchorage . Scanning the Weather for a better day and make the Journey North to the Great Northwest and maby Canada where its even Perty ‘er (??) spelling got me there ….Hay’ Just had to come up and say “Hi” Angie thanks for the Up date and alwayse a pleasure to hear things are Well . You are certainly in Good Hands there with Capt. Hi Angie, I was wondering where you and Bruce are. Thank you for the up-date. We are having lots of much needed rain here in the North Ga mountains . As you know from Facebook, I recently returned from Thailand. It was a beautiful trip and the most fun I have had in years. I went with a tour group called Overseas Travel Adventure (14 people I did not know previously). Going to meet an old girlfriend from San Miguel in Santa Fe the first week in August. In the meantime practicing for a early summer chorale concert and putting in plants in my yard. Put in over 50 (with help) over the last 10 days. So that is about it with me except same old routine. Hope your Mother’s Day was great. Hola to the Captain and hope the weather breaks so that you can continue your journey. Be safe. Love to you both, Ellen
